Reminder regarding the use of animals on set


The City of Cape Town’s  guidelines for location filming references the Performing Animals Protection Act for shoots using domestic animals and the Cape Nature Conservation Ordinance (WC Nature conservation Laws Amendment Act) for shoots involving wild animals.

When production companies indicate the use of animals on set, they are required to provide the confirm the presence of and provide the details of a licensed animal wrangler. The Film Permit Office will include this as a permit condition. the Film permit Office also undertakes random monitoring of compliance with permit conditions. Furthermore all law enforcement staff are authorised to ensure bylaw compliance.
